The economy of Zamboanga Sibugay grew by 6.0 percent in 2023 from its 2022 level, the fastest among all provinces and Highly Urbanized City (HUC) in Zamboanga Peninsula during the period. The main contributors to the 2023 growth of the province were: Construction, 19.6 percent; Wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, 5.4 percent; and Transportation and storage, 31.9 percent. (Figure 1)

Among the 16 industries, the fastest growths were observed in Mining and quarrying with 89.2 percent, followed by Other services with 33.4 percent, and Transportation and storage with 31.9 percent. On the other hand, Agriculture, forestry and fishing experienced a negative growth rate, declining by 4.0 percent.
Of the five economies in Zamboanga Peninsula, Zamboanga Sibugay registered the fastest growth rate in 2023, followed by Zamboanga del Sur and Zamboanga del Norte. These three provinces posted GDP growth higher than the regional GDP growth rate of 4.6 percent. (Figure 2)
