The economy of Zamboanga del Sur posted a growth of 6.5 percent in 2022, a deceleration from the 7.5 percent growth registered in the previous year. The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the province was valued at PhP 101.53 billion in 2022. (Figure 1)

The three fastest growing industries in the province were Mining and quarrying which grew by 282.9 percent, Other services by 35.7 percent, and Accommodation and food service activities which expanded by 25.8 percent.

Meanwhile, the three industries with top contributions to the economic growth of the province were Wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles with 2.9 percentage points, Education which contributed 0.71 percentage point, and Manufacturing with a contribution of 0.70 percentage point.

The economy of Zamboanga del Sur contributed 1.5 percentage points to the regional economy growth of 7.5 percent.
