The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Regional Statistical Services Office IX in partnership with the Local Government Unit of Zamboanga City officially opened the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) Registration Center at Barangay Latuan and Barangay Calabasa last 01 March 2022 and 22 March 2022 respectively.

Engr. Belinda B. Garcia, Chief of the Civil Registration and Administrative Support Division and Mr. Conrad E. Sontillano, Chief of Statistical Operations and Coordination Division were among those in attendance and in their message, acknowledged the support of the barangay councils and for the warm welcome given to the PSA. They further advised that health protocols should still be observed as the threat of COVID-19 is not yet eliminated. Joining them wa Land Bank of the Philippines Department Head for Zamboanga City, Mr. Rodolfo A. Luceñada who also gave a message emphasizing the role of Land Bank as co-locator in the registration center.

In addition, PSA RSSO IX also conducted PhilSys Institutional Registration which is an on-site registration activity at the Bureau of Internal Revenue, Zamboanga City Human Resource Management Office, and the Department of Public Works and Highways last 09, 21, and 25 March 2022 respectively. This year, the PSA aims to set up more registration centers in other barangays that were preregistered in Step 1.
