The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Regional Statistical Services Office (RSSO) IX in partnership with the Region Nine Association of Civil Registrars Inc. (RNACRI) commenced the celebration of the 2018 Civil Registration Month (CRM) with the theme #napapanahongCRVS at Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur last February 1, 2018.

The month-long event kicked-off with a motorcade through the thoroughfares of Pagadian City and it was participated by different vehicles representing different Local/Municipal Civil Registrars in the Zamboanga Peninsula. It was followed by an Opening Ceremony at the Rotonda Function Hall. This year’s opening was hosted by the PSA Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Office in coordination with the Zamboanga del Sur Association of Civil Registrars Inc.  One of the highlights of the ceremony was a challenge posed by Dr. Mewchun WS. Pamaran, PSA RSSO IX Regional Director during her inspirational speech emphasizing the goal to reach complete registration of all citizens in the region.

In line with the celebration, the PSA RSSO IX committed to conduct different activities such as hanging of CRM streamer in the Office façade, conduct lectures and information drive to schools, attend the annual mass weddings initiated by PAGIBIG and LGUs, give trivia questions to clients within the CRS Outlet, propagate information dissemination in the forms of news article and radio plug-ins and support the activities spearheaded by the Local/Municipal Civil Registrars.

The CRM is being celebrated pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 682 signed on January 28, 1991 by the late President Corazon Aquino declaring every February of every year as the Civil Registration Month. The objective is to remind the citizenry of their duty to register acts and events concerning status of persons and enhance the nationwide awareness and appreciation of the legal, administrative and statistical values of civil registry documents.
