The Provincial Statistical Office – Zamboanga Sibugay, represented by Senior Statistical Specialist and CBMS Provincial Focal Person Ma. Theresa R. Sumicad is pleased to announce its collaboration with the Municipal CBMS Coordinating Board (MCCB) of the Local Government of Diplahan in a concerted effort to accelerate local development through data-driven strategies.
On the morning of 17 January 2024, the convening of these two esteemed entities took place at RHU Function Hall, Poblacion, Diplahan, Zamboanga Sibugay. This marked a significant milestone in the pursuit of evidence-based decision-making and targeted interventions for poverty alleviation and community empowerment. SrSS/CBMS Provincial Focal Person Ma. Theresa R. Sumicad presented the background of the 2024 CBMS rollout, highlighting the necessity for collaboration and support from the members of the Municipal Coordinating Board.
Under the Republic Act No. 11315, the Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) is mandated to collect essential data for evidence-based policymaking and program implementation at the municipal level. The CBMS will streamline the identification of beneficiaries for social protection programs, perform thorough poverty analysis, and prioritize community needs. It is important to note that the CBMS upholds individual privacy rights in strict compliance with RA 10173, the Data Privacy Act of 2012, and RA 10625, the Philippine Statistical Act of 2014. The CBMS has implemented stringent measures to ensure responsible and secure handling of all collected information.
The Municipal CBMS Coordinating Board will serve as a central body responsible for overseeing and guiding the implementation of the Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) in the municipality. By fulfilling its key responsibilities, the Board will play a crucial role in ensuring the effectiveness and success of the CBMS in addressing poverty and promoting local development.
