Mr. Roberto Guieb, Clerk IV of the Local Civil Registry Office (LCRO) – Titay, emerged as the Provincial Champion in the recently concluded 5th Provincial Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) Quiz Bee held on 02 February 2024 at PSA-Training Room, YOHO Building, Sanito, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay. This year’s quiz bee was participated by thirteen (13) contestants from different LCROs in the province.

Ms. Mildred Yap, Revenue Collection Clerk II of the LCRO – Diplahan and Ms. Maria Loujienne Bayor, Administrative Officer III of LCRO – Ipil, bagged the first and second runners-up positions, respectively.

Mr. Gerry E. Lao-lao, Registration Officer II served as the Chairman of the Board of Judges, together with him as member of the board were Ms. Jonalyn N. Yamaro, MCR – Titay and Ms. Michelle M. Sabdula, MCR – Kabasalan.

The CRVS Quiz Bee is one of the activities in line with this year’s month-long celebration of the 34th Civil Registration Month (CRM). Moreover, this is an annual competition of the PSA – Civil Registration Service that aims to raise responsiveness and to assess the progress of civil registration front-liners such as the LCRO staff on their understanding of the significance of Civil Registration and other PSA mandates such general-purpose statistics. In addition, it also strengthens its partnership with different LCROs.

The quiz covers vital statistics, civil registration procedures, and applicable solutions to queries and problems affecting the public in terms of registration and issuance of their civil registry documents.

The CRM is celebrated in February of every year pursuant to Proclamation No. 682 signed by the former President Corazon C. Aquino on 28 January 1991. This annual celebration aims to remind the Filipinos of their duty to register acts and events concerning status of persons, enhance nationwide awareness and appreciation of the legal, administrative, and statistical values of civil registry documents.
