23 – 27 September 2024 – ZAMBOANGA CITY. The Philippine Statistics Authority-Regional Statistical Services Office IX (PSA-RSSO IX) conducted the Second Level and Third Level Training for Zamboanga City on October 2024 Labor Force Survey (LFS) and 2024 Survey on Overseas Filipinos (SOF) at Terra Cotta Hotel, Tumaga, this City.

Ms. Ma. Flerida E. Tan, OIC SOCD Chief gave her opening message to formally opened the activity. Ms. Rabia A. Nami,   Statistical  Specialist  II

and Ms. Aiza C. Gallegos, Administrative Aide VI served as resource persons during the 4-day training.

Attending the training were Atty. Richard D. Tabigne, Chief Statistical Specialist of PSO-Zamboanga Sibugay, Ms. Dimna P. Bienes, Supervising Statistical Specialist of PSO-Zamboanga del Sur, Ms. Sesenia C. Belorio, Supervising Statistical Specialist of PSO-Zamboanga del Norte together with their respective Provincial Focal Persons, Ms. Aiza C. Gallegos, Administrative Aide VI, Ms. Roselia C. Sumalpong, Statistical Specialist II, Ms. Lanibel A. Pamatong, Registration Officer I and the hired Statistical Researchers (SRs) for Zamboanga City.

The Survey on Overseas Filipinos (SOF) is a nationwide survey conducted annually to gather information on Filipino citizens abroad, including overseas workers who left the country for employment between October 2019 and September 2024. The survey uses the past six months as a reference period and is conducted as a rider to the Labor Force Survey (LFS).

The SOF is a survey that aims to gather data on the economic contributions of overseas Filipinos, specifically contract workers. Specifically, the survey has the following objectives: determine the national figures on the number of overseas Filipinos, including workers, and their socio-economic characteristics; and estimate the amount of cash and in-kind transfers received by families and the modes of remittances.

The 4-day training was concluded by the closing remarks of Ms. Sonia D. Supnet, Statistical Specialist II.
