The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) launched the Digital National ID last June 10, 2024. This Digital ID is the third format of the National ID and shall serve as the official government-issued identification document of cardholders in dealing with all government agencies, local government units (LGUs), GOCCS, government financial institutions (GFIs), and all private sector entities. The Digital National ID is one of the government’s efforts that allow National ID-registered citizens to immediately enjoy the benefits of being a National ID holder.

The Philippine System Act 11055 section 19 states that whoever refuses to accept, acknowledge, and or recognize the PhilID or PSN subject to authentication as the only official identification of the holder without just and sufficient cause shall be fined in the amount of Five hundred thousand pesos (P500,00.00).

PSA had been pious and ceaseless in its undertaking to spread facts about the PhilSys Identification System, to raise awareness, and to encourage acceptance of the National ID and its different formats.
