The PSA aimed to establish a single national identification system for all citizens and resident aliens of the Republic of the Philippines. It was the responsibility of the office to ensure that every citizen, including those living in far-flung remote areas, has their own national ID. PhilSys Registration Teams have traveled extensively, reaching locations as distant as San Pedro, Godod, and the remote areas of Sibuco.
PhilSys Registration Team, led by Team Supervisor Arlie Morados and Registration Kit Operators Rolyn Naong, Joren Estera, Arvin Jumuad, and Jes Bryan Biton, conducted registrations in Barangay Carupay of Katipunan, Zamboanga del Norte, from January 17 to 21, 2024. The team successfully registered to PhilSys 413 individuals.
Barangay Carupay is a remote barangay in Katipunan, Zamboanga del Norte, situated in the mountainous part of the municipality with challenging uncemented roads that are steep and rocky. When the team traversed the area, they faced adverse weather conditions, including heavy rains and strong winds. Bringing the registration process directly to the doorsteps of the barangay provided relief to both residents and barangay officials, sparing them from the costly travel to the barangay poblacion. Barangay Captain Sagani Indo expressed gratitude, stating, "Indeed, having PhilSys in our barangay was a great help, and we are grateful for this initiative."
