PSA Zamboanga Sibugay Successfully Hands Over the 2022 CBMS Data of LGU-Tungawan

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) - Zamboanga Sibugay had successfully handed over the 2022 Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) Data of the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Tungawan through the conduct of the Data Turnover Ceremony (DTC) in the said municipality.

The activity was held at the SB Hall of LGU-Tungawan on 26 April 2024. It was participated by key officials including the representative of Municipal Mayor Carlnan C. Climaco in the person of SB Member Allan E. Mangubat, Municipal Planning and Development Coordinator (MPDC) Engr. Edwina D. Desoasido, other SB Members, various office heads/representatives of the LGU and national agencies, together with RSSO IX OIC-SOCD Chief Ma. Flerida E. Tan, PSA-Sibugay Chief Statistical Specialist Atty. Richard D. Tabigne, CBMS Provincial Focal Person Senior Statistical Specialist Ma. Theresa R. Sumicad and other PSA personnel.

The groundbreaking ceremony represented a crucial moment, indicating a dedication to enhancing data-driven decision-making processes within the community. This occasion marked the beginning of joint endeavors, shared duties, and a united pledge to shape a more promising future for all members.

During the activity, Engr. Desoasido delivered her welcome remarks giving distinctive appreciation to the Philippine Statistics Authority for its unwavering technical support, concerned LGU personnel for the administrative and financial concerns, and CBMS hired personnel for their dedication and extra effort rendered in gathering complete and reliable data. These had been mentioned as she underlined the significance of having granular data in making policies, and implementing programs and interventions. In addition, through her inspirational message, OIC-SOCD Chief Tan emphasized the importance of having good relationship between the PSA and the LGUs especially that there will be another CBMS rollout.

Following that, CSS Atty. Tabigne presented the highlights of the 2022 CBMS, underscoring crucial elements particularly in addressing the Sustainable Development Goals (SGDs). This encompassed areas like food security, education, accessibility to essential services like electricity and internet, employment status, and other necessary data items. He stressed the significance of these data for decision-makers, planners, communities, leaders, and stakeholders alike.

Shortly after the formal signing of the data turnover agreement, Hon. Mangubat expressed his acceptance message commending the successful implementation of the 2022 CBMS through the joint force of the PSA and the LGU. This was followed by the presentation of plans and programs by Municipal Statistician Samuel Daligdig putting emphasis on capacitating data collectors, barangay officials, LGU personnel, and even the minor sectors in terms of proper handling, interpretation and utilization of the CBMS data ensuring data security in adherence to the Data Privacy Act. SrSS Ma. Theresa R. Sumicad delivered the closing message, highlighting the importance of this ceremony as a significant milestone for the year ahead for the constituents of Tungawan.

This momentous event marks a notable stride in utilizing data for informed decision-making, exemplifying a strong collaborative spirit towards community development into  a realization.
