The Philippine Statistics Authority – Zamboanga Sibugay, gathered under the representation of Chief Statistical Specialist Atty. Richard D. Tabigne, Senior Statistical Specialist and CBMS Provincial Focal Person Ma. Theresa R. Sumicad, along with other PSA personnel, convened the Municipal CBMS Coordinating Board (MCCB) of the Municipality of Buug.
Municipal Administrator Rocelo G. Curiba, on behalf of Mayor Dionesia B. Lagas, presided over the meeting at SB Hall, Poblacion, Buug, Zamboanga Sibugay in the afternoon of 16 January 2024. A background of the 2024 CBMS rollout was briefly presented by CSS Atty. Ricahrd D. Tabigne, highlighting the necessity for collaboration and support from the members of the Municipal Coordinating Board.
Under the Republic Act No. 11315, the Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) is mandated to collect essential data for evidence-based policymaking and program implementation at the municipal level. The CBMS will streamline the identification of beneficiaries for social protection programs, perform thorough poverty analysis, and prioritize community needs. It is important to note that the CBMS upholds individual privacy rights in strict compliance with RA 10173, the Data Privacy Act of 2012, and RA 10625, the Philippine Statistical Act of 2014. The CBMS has implemented strict measures to ensure responsible and secure handling of all collected information.
The Municipal CBMS Coordinating Board will supervise the execution of CBMS in Buug, managing requirements and resolving potential issues pre-, during, and post-implementation. This collaboration between the Municipality of Buug and the PSA demonstrates a joint dedication to fostering beneficial changes, advancing sustainability, and enhancing residents' quality of life in Buug through the utilization of dependable data.
