The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Regional Statistical Services Office IX in partnership with the Local Government Unit of Zamboanga City officially opened the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) Registration Center at Barangay Landang Laum in Sacol Island, last 21 March 2022.

Engr. Belinda B. Garcia, Chief of the Civil Registration and Administrative Support Division was among those in attendance and in her message, acknowledged the support of the barangay council and for the warm welcome given to the PSA. She further advised that health protocols should still be observed as the threat of COVID-19 is not yet eliminated. Joining them was the Land Bank of the Philippines Department Head for Zamboanga City, Mr. Rodolfo A. Luceñada who also gave a message emphasizing the role of Land Bank as co-locator in the registration center.

The Registration Team intends to register the residents of Barangays Landang Laum, Landang Gua, Pasilmanta, and Busay, all located in Sacol Island.

The PSA acknowledged the logistical support of the Philippine Navy in transporting the registration kits and the members of the Registration Team as well as the personnel of PSA and Land Bank.
