The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Regional Statistical Services Office (RSSO) IX conducted the Agency Statisticians’ Meeting last August 7, 2018 at the PSA RSSO IX Function Hall. This was in preparation for the upcoming 29^th National Statistics Month (NSM) and was participated by the different Regional Line Agencies (RLAs), State Universities and Colleges (SUCs), Local Government Units (LGUs) and the academe.   

One of the highlights of the event was the message delivered by Dr. Mewchun WS. Pamaran, Regional Director of PSA RSSO IX wherein she emphasized the importance of the month-long celebration which is to promote, enhance and instill awareness and appreciation of the importance and value of statistics to the different sectors of society and to elicit the cooperation and support of the general public in upgrading the quality and standards of statistics in the country. In addition, she mentioned that this will be the 29^th in the series. Furthermore, Mr. Mark Anthony Belderol, Senior Statistical Specialist of PSA RSSO IX led the discussion of the agenda and the group was able to come up with agreements for the upcoming October 2018.

The National Statistics Month (NSM) was first observed in 1990 pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 647 signed by then President Corazon C. Aquino on September 20, 1990, Declaring the Month of October of Every Year as the National Statistics Month.
