A.    Zamboanga City


a.    Overall Inflation Rate
Headline inflation in Zamboanga City further decreased to 0.3 percent in July 2025 from 0.7 percent in June 2025. In July 2024, the year-on-year inflation rate was comparatively higher at 6.5 percent.

1.1    Main Drivers Behind the Downtrend of the Overall Inflation Rate in Zamboanga City
The main drivers on the downtrend of the overall inflation in July 2025 was primarily driven by the slower annual increment of the commodity group, Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages, recorded at (2.0) percent from (1.1) percent in June 2025. The gradual decrease in prices in the categories of Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and other Fuels, at 4.1 percent from 4.3 percent and Health, with 2.2 percent from 2.4 percent also contributed to the downtrend of the overall inflation rate in Zamboanga City. Furthermore, the commodity group, Recreation, Sport, and Culture registered a lower inflation rate at 2.4 percent from 2.5 percent.
In contrast, higher increments were observed in the indices of the following commodities:
a.     Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco, 1.2 percent from 0.8 percent;
b.    Clothing and Footwear, 1.5 percent from 0.8 percent;
c.    Furnishings, Household Equipment and Routine Household Maintenance, 5.7 percent from 5.5 percent;
d.    Transport, (3.2) percent from (3.6) percent;
e.    Personal Care, and Miscellaneous Goods and Services, 2.1 percent from 
1.1 percent;

Meanwhile, the following commodity groups retained their previous month’s inflation rates:
a.    Education Services, 8.7 percent;
b.    Information and Communication, 0.0 percent;
c.    Restaurants and Accommodation Services, 1.0 percent;
d.    Financial Services at 0.0 percent.

1.2    Main Contributors to the Overall Inflation Rate 
The top three (3) commodity groups contributing to the overall inflation rate in Zamboanga City were the following:
a.    Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels, contributing 320.6 percent share or 0.96 percentage point;
b.    Education Services, contributing 46.4 percent share or 0.14 percentage point;
c.    Furnishings, Household Equipment and Routine Household Maintenance , 
45.9 percent share or 0.14 percentage point;

Food Inflation

Food inflation in Zamboanga City for July 2025 further decline to (2.2) percent from 
(1.3) percent in June 2025. On the other hand, the food inflation in July 2024 was higher at 8.0 percent.

1.1    The Main Drivers Behind the Downtrend of Food Inflation
The main drivers in the downtrend of food inflation in July 2025 was brought by the slower annual growth rate of the food index of Cereals and cereal products which recorded at (13.4) percent from (12.1) percent inflation during the previous month. In addition, the decrease in prices of the food indices of Vegetables, tubers, plantains, cooking bananas and pulses, at (7.1) percent from (2.9) percent inflation and Ready-made food and other food products n.e.c, at (2.3) percent from 0.1 percent also contributed to the lower food inflation. 
In addition, lower increments were also observed in the following food commodities:
a.    Fruits and nuts, 9.9 percent from 16.4 percent;
b.    Meat and other parts of slaughtered land animals, 3.5 percent from 4.0 percent;

On the contrary, the following food commodities recorded higher year-on-year growth rates:
a.    Flour, Bread and other Bakery Products, Pasta Products and other Cereals, 
2.7 percent from 1.9 percent;
b.    Fish and other seafood; 6.1 percent from 4.0 percent;
c.    Milk, other dairy products and eggs, 14.0 percent from 13.6 percent;
d.    Oils and fats, 1.3 percent from 0.4 percent;
e.    Sugar, confectionery and desserts, 1.9 percent from 1.8 percent;
