PSA-Zamboanga Sibugay played an active role in the Third Level Training for the January 2024 Labor Force Survey (LFS) and 2023 Family Income and Expenditure Survey (FIES) Visit 2, which was held from January 3 to 9, 2024, at the Sibugay Hotel in Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay.
This year, PSA-Sibugay hired fifty-three (53) Statistical Researchers and five (5) Team Supervisors who underwent a seven-day intensive training for them to effectively carry out their duties and responsibilities during field operations. Various crucial topics were covered during the training, providing attendees with significant insights into the January 2024 LFS and 2023 FIES Visit 2 procedures. The said training covered important areas such as updating codes, the utilization of CADaCS for surveys, the proper completion of ISH Form 2, procedures for accomplishing FIES Form 1, and the testing of LFS-FIES Systems. In addition, SrSS Ma. Theresa R. Sumicad, SSII Marvin A. Maylon, SA Ephraim I. Sagaral, and AAVI Aiza C. Gallegos serve as the trainers.
The FIES hopes to gather data on family income and family living expenditure and related information affecting income and expenditure levels and patterns in the Philippines and in the sub-national levels and determine the sources of income and income distribution, levels of living and spending patterns, and the degree of inequality among families. It also aims to provide benchmark information to update weights in the estimation of the Consumer Price Index (CPI); and provide inputs in the estimation of the country, region and provinces’ poverty thresholds and incidences. Meanwhile, LFS is a monthly and quarterly survey of households that measures the current state of the Philippine labor market.
Thus, the PSA-Sibugay enjoins the sample households to support and participate in the 2023 FIES Visit 2 and 2024 LFS by providing truthful information.
