21 September 2023 – ZAMBOANGA CITY. The Philippine Statistics Authority – Regional Statistical Services Office IX (PSA-RSSO IX) conducted the 3rd PSA Quiz Bee Regional Elimination. The competition was participated by contestants from different local and national government units and the academe; Ms. Janekin V. Hamoc, Senior Education Program Specialist, Department of Education IX, Ms. Angelique Rose D. Catis, Statistician I, City Planning and Development Office, Mr. Alvener H. Sakili, Statistician I, Western Mindanao State University and Mr. Giovanni Y. Lim, Assistant Professor III, Zamboanga State College of Marine Science and Technology.

Sitting as board of judges were Officer-In-Charge CRASD Chief Conrad E. Sontillano, Registration Officer IV Roxan Kastine M. Lumapas and the chairperson of the board is Statistical Specialist II Sonia D. Supnet.

Before the Quiz Bee proper, Information Officer I Michelle Grace C. Natividad served as the quiz master and mentioned the mechanics of the contest. Ms. Natividad read the guidelines and mechanics for the quiz bee. It was composed of three (3) rounds and each round had 10 questions in a multiple-choice format. A different time limit was set to answer each question and after the given time, the contestants raised the letter of their choice. The three (3) highest scoring contestants after Round 3 were declared as winners.

The 3rd PSA Quiz Bee Regional Elimination’s 3rd place finisher was the representative from WMSU, Mr. Alvener H. Sakili, 2nd place finisher was CPDO representative Ms. Angelique Rose D. Catis and the representative from DepED IX Ms. Janekin V. Hamoc bagged the title as the 3rd PSA Quiz Bee Regional Elimination’s Champion. Ms. Hamoc will represent Region IX in the upcoming 3rd PSA Quiz Bee Finals, on 05 October 2023 in Metro Manila.
