
The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) – Zamboanga Sibugay successfully spearheaded a Data and Information Dissemination Forum on 03 April 2025. The event took place at Western Mindanao State University – Olutanga ESU in the morning and Western Mindanao State University – Mabuhay ESU in the afternoon, drawing over 100 participants, including students, faculty, and staff.
The forum covered a range of vital topics such as the National ID System, Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS), the services available through the Civil Registry System (CRS) Ipil Outlet, and the latest updates on Census and Survey Results from the PSA. This initiative was aimed at increasing the PSA’s visibility among stakeholders and enhancing public awareness of its services.
Moreover, the resource speakers at the forum shared valuable insights on various crucial topics:
• Registration Officer II Gerry E. Lao-lao provided an in-depth discussion on CRVS. He outlined the common uses of civil registry documents, typical problems and concerns faced by registrants, and the importance of accurate civil records for individuals and the community. He also introduced the services available at the PSA – Zamboanga Sibugay’s newly opened CRS Outlet.
• Senior Statistical Specialist Ma. Theresa R. Sumicad presented the latest Census and Survey results from the PSA, raising public awareness about the objectives, processes, and significance of these national initiatives.
• Registration Officer II Philips S. Carido and Information Officer I Joric L. Jimenez delivered a comprehensive overview of the National Identification System, emphasizing its importance and its benefits for both the public and government transactions. They also shared detailed insights into the features, benefits, design, and security of the NID System, along with updates on its implementation in Zamboanga Sibugay. On top of that, a live demonstration was conducted, showing participants how to generate the Digital National ID and authenticate the three formats using the National ID eVerify and the National ID Authentication Services.
The forum also included an open discussion, where participants had the opportunity to ask questions, seek clarifications, and raise any other concerns. The resource speakers provided detailed responses and explanations, ensuring that all inquiries were thoroughly addressed.
